About
Charlotte is a pianist, composer and teacher from the North East of England. She studied at Sage Gateshead before graduating from Newcastle University with a First-Class Honours degree in music. Charlotte also holds an ARSM diploma in piano and an AMusLCM diploma in music theory.
Charlotte specialises in composing atmospheric solo piano music that has both an immediate and lasting effect on the listener. In 2020, she released her debut album, Illuminated Keys. This was followed by her popular ‘A Piece a Day’ series, where she composed and uploaded a new piece daily during the UK lockdown. Charlotte's music has featured in the Atmospherica composer concert series, Steve Luck's Peaceful Piano series, and on NTS Radio.
In August 2023, Charlotte's composition 'Nocturne: Moonlight on the Waves' was published by EVC Music in a new piano anthology inspired by Chopin's Nocturnes. The collection, titled 22 Nocturnes for Chopin, is made up exclusively of pieces by women composers and will be presented with a series of recitals by the prize-winning pianist Rose McLachlan.
In September 2023, Charlotte will release a new EP titled Shoreline Score featuring five piano miniatures evoking an array of coastal scenes.
Charlotte also teaches piano and music theory to students of all ages privately and at Stagecoach Performing Arts School. She has published two educational piano repertoire books for children, Ten Terrific Tunes: Volume I and Ten Terrific Tunes: Volume II and writes the Easy Peasy Piano music education blog.
In addition to Charlotte’s work as a composer and teacher, she is also an accompanist and pit band pianist and has worked with a number of ensembles including Tynemouth Choral Society, Felling Male Voice Choir, Just Singin’ Sunderland and the Newcastle Gang Show band.
